"Domo Arigato" from Japan

Mits Nakamura, Asia-Pacific Market Research Analyst at HOTSTART, asked us if we would design a t-shirt to raise support for relief efforts following the massive earthquake and tsunami that hit Japan on March 11th. The death toll and missing people as of April 15th is over 28,000. About 140,000 people are still living in shelters.

After quickly agreeing to help, we created two designs for the t-shirts. One features the word LOVE and the other consists of a design combining the words HOPE2 and JAPAN on the back. On the front are the same messages in Japanese.

Mits and his team from Spokane-Nishinomiya Sister City Society decided to offer both t-shirts and Gale Coston at Stadium Sports donated the printing. You can purchase a shirt for only $10 each, with all proceeds going to the American Red Cross Japan Earthquake and Tsunami relief effort.

Last Sunday, the Spokane/Nishinomia Sister City organization held a celebration at the Japanese Gardens in Manito Park. I attended the event where (as a representative of Klündt | Hosmer), I received recognition and a gift from the mayor of Nishinomya as a "thank you" for our contribution.

Mits had hoped that his t-shirt campaign would result in the sales of 200 shirts and raise $2,000 for the Red Cross effort. So far, people in Spokane have purchased over 1,000 t-shirts and have raised $10,000 (and growing) to assist the Japanese people recover from this tragedy.
