Very recently I registered to start receiving GoogleAlerts.
GoogleAlerts are a free service from Google that enables you to receive email alerts regarding online content relating to a particular name, company or a subject that you want to know about. I have had business friends tell me about GoogleAlerts, but I hadn't registered until this week.
I thought it might be a good idea to be notified of online postings that mention Klündt | Hosmer, or my own name... just to keep up with what's being published on the Internet about us.
Today I received a GoogleAlert about a post that contained my name. Actually, it only contained my last name, and it related to a newspaper article in Lansing, MI that hosts a feature called, "Eyesore of the Week".
Apparently, a property owner "in the Hosmer neighborhood" of Lansing has a run-down home with an old metal shed in the backyard. Someone felt that this property was worthy of receiving the publication's, "Eyesore of the Week" award. There is quite a write-up about it.
Here I am, hoping to find web content relating to myself and Klündt | Hosmer's design and marketing work, but instead I find out there is a neighborhood in Lansing that shares my last name. Not only that, but a property owner in that neighborhood has got a run-down old house and a crappy metal shed. Hmmmm....
Maybe I need to track that property owner down and get them to repair their house and clean up their backyard. After all, we've got a reputation to uphold.
Even if it IS only online.
